Tammie Reid

Tammie is a speaker, teacher, writer, and leader with vast experience working for education and community reform. Tammie is a visionary leader: she is a clear-headed, analytic thinker who sees the big picture; makes informed decisions; and inspires teams to get the job done. Since leaving full-time work to found T. Reid Solutions and to subsequently manage the demands of motherhood and homeschooling, the bulk of her work over the last several years has entailed grants management. Still, Tammie’s expertise in organizational development; group training and facilitation; and project management has helped clients achieve significant outcomes.

Tammie has worked with local and national organizations to found, assist and evaluate new and mature charter schools; engage extensive research on educational best practices; cultivate grants and development opportunities; and provide coaching to leaders in schools and nonprofit organizations. Prior to her consulting work, Tammie served as the inaugural Head of Middle School at a private independent school in Connecticut where she led the design and implementation of a comprehensive, rigorous educational program for students.

Additionally, Tammie managed the charge to create an inclusive school community by initiating changes in school policy and developing diversity programs for the entire school. It was also in Connecticut – while still a relative newcomer to her community – that Tammie was elected for two terms to her town’s board of education, serving also as its President. While on the board, Tammie was a champion for progressive policies regarding board governance and student achievement. Her most influential work led to policies on racially inclusive hiring practices and parent engagement; the development of the district’s first-ever comprehensive strategic plan; and the construction of both a new dual-language elementary school and a science and technology magnet high school.

Tammie received her BA from Connecticut College and her M.Ed from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. Tammie has served on numerous boards, and in 2010 became the founding Chairperson of the Roseville Community Charter School Board of Trustees (Newark, NJ). She currently serves as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Philip’s Academy Charter School (Newark, NJ).
